In loving memory of Cringer

Cringer passed away this afternoon. I gave her one last round of meds this morning before I went to work and when I came home at my break time today she had passed. I had her in my life for such a short time, but what a little wonder she was (although David would disagree). Although I'm sad for her passing, I'm glad that she is no longer suffering. I'll miss her little hisses and pops when I walk in the room and move her igloo. I'm not sure if she ended up having Cancer or if this truly was just an issue with infection (my hunch says it really was cancer). I will her dearly and it may be awhile before I'm posting again.

Cringer was such an amazing little fighter. She obviously loved you and life so much to hang in there like she did. You're a great hedgie mom! My thoughts are with you Rachael.

oh Rachael, I am so very sorry about Cringer. I was really hoping she was going to pull through. She put up a good fight and you both did the very best you could. I know she realizes how much you loved her. Perhaps she didn't want you to have to make that terrible decision and she went on her own time. She is free of pain now and is your very special quilly angel. Thank you for being such a wonderful hedgie-mom and taking such good care of Cringer. Hugs to you!!!

I feel just awful. I'm so sorry, Rach. It makes you feel so helpless. Poor girl. She couldn't have asked for a better care taker. Shoot me an email if you want to get together. XO

Oh, Rach! What a horrible, horrible blog buddy I've been! I'm so sorry I hadn't seen this sooner. This post made me really, really sad :( I know how special pets are to their human family members. In the back of my head, I keep thinking about the day Chance will eventually have to go to doggy heaven. He's six years old now and I don't even want to think about it. He's still my puppy boy :)

Sorry about Cringer. I know she will be missed.

A friend of mine had a hedgehog too and hers died after a year or so. I wonder what the life expectancy of hedgehogs is?

Sending you lots of hugs XOXO

Thank you all for your kind words of support.

C--Hedgehogs can live about 3 to 6 years, although I've read of some who have lived much longer. Cringer was a little over three and had some sort of major medical issue (probably some sort of cancer).
